  Resignation - not that it matters at all, but ....

  i just wanted those kind-hearted, those gentle, those friendly ones of you to know that i wrote my letter of resignation as an elder yesterday, after having served in that capasity for 24 years.. those wishing to call me or any society "bastard", "sucker", "braindead" or anything, as they have before, i would ask please to refrain from that.

  other comments would be welcome.. somehow, it is the armstrong quote about "one small step for man, one giant leap for humankind" (approximately) the other way around, "one giant leap for (a) man, one hardly noticeable step for humankind".. ok, that was that.

  if so, please re-type page 55 for the group.

  also, in addition to this, is there anybody out there that could re-type and paste page 188 of the book "the finished mystery"?.

  Yeah, I posted this the other day, the "Finished Mystery' page 187 is talking about the "Shepherd with a rod of iron" . Witnesses now believe this is Christ.
  But they didnt in 1917.
  They thought this was Antichrist. AntiChrist being the Papacy. Papacy ruled for 1260 days, 538-1798.
  Of course, this interp is one they brought with them out of Adventism. Adventists STILL hold this interpretation today.

  this is not a fluff post.... hey friends...i got all nostalgic today and for some reason decided to prepare the ultimate talk that i wished i could have given at one of the meetings back yonder when i was a dumb dub.

  so, the next best thing is to share it here with you cool folks, and just maybe you might find something here of value.... why are the witnesses so life negative?.

  perhaps it comes as a surprise to you that i say that the society has denied life, destroyed life; they have been antagonistic to life, and their god jehovah is against life.

  Im aware recently that youve been talking about leaving the board.
  It occurs to me that perhaps you dont get a whole lot of responses to your posts.
  I just realized why.
  They are very intimidating. I myself am afraid to respond to your actual theory for fear of looking a mental pygmy.Still, they are always worth reading.
  This notion of life negativity is something I have been aware of myself. Antisocial. Despising achievement. I constantly condemn the successful, the rich, the ones having a good time.
  And Im only too aware that this is because I can never aspire to those things myself. Ive probably been HAPPY 7 years out of my 45.
  And even then I was not fully happy.Just moderately happy.
  Currently I am bloody unhappy. I mourn over the meaninglessness of my existance, and that I cannot have some things that I want.
  Why cant I have what i want?
  I never have.
  enough.
  (This is not a sympathy seeking posting, anybody tries to get all supportive...shove it)

  My story...well part of it anyway

  it has occurred to me that ive been here long enough and have met many of you whose company i really appreciate.

  i see people come in since i have been here and am inspired and impressed at the courage they have for giving their stories, their experiences and the freedoms they now have paid for by a cost that only a cult survivor can really appreciate.. so with that inspiration, here is my story.... i have very little memory of before i was 5. i do remember christmas morning one year to wake up to a ton of toys and that was cool.

  i remember having my stomach pumped once because i got into some kerosene and thought id pour myself a glass.

  I wonder if our friend has read the "epic of Gilgamesh'.
  Story about a world wide flood written hundreds of years before Genesis.
  I might recomend reading Joseph Campbell also, seems every culture has a Christ story. Problem is, most of them date before Christ.
  Refer to the legend of Dionysus, (Bacchus), remarkable similarities to the Jesus tale, pre dates Christ.
  Who copied who?
  That is the question.

  when you start reading rays book and find out that everything you know to be factual, the only constant, solid, truth in the universe is just nothing?

  i've known this in my head since i started reading posts here on xmas day but i have never really believed it.

  i thought i just wanted to believe it so that i could rid myself of some of this guilt i've always carried around.

  feel that way, like I said before, being angry at them is better than hating yourself.Hating yourself is not what you need right now Flower.
  I read a book a long time ago about a cult here in Australia called "TT". In the cult there was a man called Fletcher Denniston, the guilt and self hate the cult induced in Fletcher Denniston was shocking. Far worse than how anybody here in this site feels.
  All these cults are the same, just some are worse than others. More extreme.JWs is by no means the worst, but I confess I know MANY ex Witnesses who are severely damaged people. Drug addicts. Mental cases. Im not 100 percent well myself, and need medication to stay balanced. See? Welcome to the reality. Do you want to go back? Submit yourself to years more of misery, selfhate and slavery?
  If not, you must go forward. There is no option.
  Look how many people you got on this site who are pulling for you. Love you. And support you. Good aint it?
  Make contact with some dudes who are close to you. Where are you? Texas isnt it? Post on the main board, asking for people in your area to reveal themselves.Most likely theres even 6 or 7 whod be happy to go out socializing with you and whoop it up on the town.
